Family, friends, members of the district’s Board of Education, administration and staff shared an important day in the lives of the Class of 2015 as each high school held its annual commencement exercise. Central High School held their ceremony at the Tilles Center on June 24, while North and South high schools celebrated their commencement exercises on June 25 at each school.
Each ceremony included speeches from the high school principal, class president, the valedictorians and salutatorians. Memorable speeches included reflections on student experiences during their time in Valley Stream and advice on heading into the future.
At Central High School, Valedictorian Ronald Pritipaul told his peers, “Face your fears. Our time is now. Enjoy it!” South High School Valedictorian Jefferson-Lawrence Poserio said, “Remember to take a deep breath. If we don’t stop and allow ourselves to breathe, we will never appreciate all we’ve done while at South. You spent so much time and energy navigating to the top of the mountain…the least you can do is enjoy the view.” At North High School, Valedictorian Rubab Malik spoke about life being an experiment. "In the results of the life experiment, genuine happiness measures success. Not money, wealth, fame or other worldly possessions,” she said.
Following the speeches, members of the Class of 2015 crossed the graduation stage and received their diplomas, officially becoming alumni of the Valley Stream Central High School District.
