Thirteen students from Valley Stream Central High School participated in the Future Business Leaders of America's National Leadership Conference. The event was attended by more than 11,000 of the best and brightest students from all over the United States.
The students from Central High School competed in nine different events that required research, public speaking and presentation skills. They were often up against more than 100 other contenders.
The Central High School teams advanced to six different final rounds. Isaac Cruz won first place in Sales Presentation, Claude Parola and Paola Parola were awarded second place in Public Service Announcement, Madeline Grunin and Sophia Grunin earned fifth place in Digital Design and Promotion, Ronald Pritipaul took eighth place in Website Design, Ramya Gopalakrishnan and Monik Walters placed 10th in E-business, and Stephanie Burchell earned 10th place in Public Speaking 1.
In receiving these awards, the students stand among the very elite in the nation. New York State boasted 16 top 10 finishes in various events, with the aforementioned six coming from Central High School.
