Central High School senior Kayla Brown recently won second place at the 10th Annual Theodore Roosevelt Association Nassau County Public Speaking Contest held in Oyster Bay.
As part of the contest, Kayla had to develop a five minute original speech about the life, politics, beliefs, and/or career of President Theodore Roosevelt. All speeches had to be memorized and were evaluated by a panel of judges in semifinal and final rounds. For her performance, she was awarded a grant from New York Community Bank. This is Central’s second year participating in the competition and students have placed in the contest both times.
