Valley Stream North High School’s Social Studies Department raised funds for Honor Flight Long Island, an organization that flies WWII veterans to Washington, D.C., to provide them with an opportunity to view the memorials that were built in their honor. Students and staff members collected donations, organized bake sales, sold t-shirts and hosted a viewing of the movie, Saving Private Ryan. As a result of this endeavor, which resulted in proceeds that amounted to $2,800, seven WWII veterans will be able to take the "Honor Flight."
