As part of C.A.R.E (Caring; Acceptance; Respect; Empathy) Week, American paralympian, wrestler and motivational speaker Rohan Murphy visited Memorial Junior High School.
Murphy, who lost both of his legs at birth, spoke with eighth- and ninth-graders about his personal story. He wrestled in high school and later at Penn State University, and also went on to become an accomplished powerlifter. He has been featured in publications including Sports Illustrated, and even featured in his own Nike commercial.
Murphy spoke with students about overcoming obstacles and always remaining true to themselves. He encouraged students to work hard and to live a healthy lifestyle. He also emphasized the importance of remaining positive and caring, and being accepting of others.
