Approximately 20 students from North High School’s SADD Club embarked on a one-mile barefoot walk on Oct. 10 to show their support for Barefoot4them, a campaign sponsored by Soles4Souls.
Soles4Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty, and advances its anti-poverty mission by collecting new and used shoes and clothes and then distributing those items to people in need.
Last year, the high school donated approximately 1,000 pairs of shoes to those in need both in the U.S. and around the world.
SADD Club Advisor Ada Duran and students completed the mile-long walk. At the end of the event, students shared that the event made them aware of how difficult it can be to be without proper footwear. All involved vowed to continue to support the cause, striving to stomp out poverty, one sole at a time.
