South High School science research student Christian Failla has been selected out of approximately 600 students from the Senior Division Long Island Science Congress to participate in the New York State Science Congress at Brookhaven National Laboratory on May 31.
Christian was recognized for his research project “The Relationship between Cyfip1 Haploinsufficiency and Alterations in Cellular Structure During Learning,” which he did under the supervision of Dr. Ozlem Bozdagi, a professor of neuroscience at the Seaver Autism Center in the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Christian, along with other students, will present his project to judges later this month. The South High School administration congratulates him on his fine achievement.
